Ed J: 108 lbs Weight Loss

My name is Ed and I started the transformation on January 29, 2007 along with my wife Margaret. We had heard about the clinic through a friend who spoke highly of it. We attended our first meeting together. I started off at 358 lbs.

With the various different eating plans there was one that fit me. As I am not the type to do the “shake for every meal approach”, I opted for the modified protein fast and the weigh started to drop. Since I am pretty boring in the eating department, the plan was easy to stay on.

I noticed dramatic results immediately. I had been suffering as a result of a sleeping disorder and a bad ankle, and it was hard to exercise with all of the extra weight. After a couple of months, the sleep apnea almost disappeared and we started backpacking for an upcoming trip.

Since the first meeting I have lost a total of 108 lbs and am running (jogging… ok fast walking), hiking and buying new clothes in the regular department.

Tips I have to offer:

  • Listen to the Doctor and dietitian and be honest, I was told you can’t always hit the score of an A+ all of the time; some days are good, some are bad, but don’t give up.
  • Have a support structure, for me it’s my wife Margaret.
  • Find of start hobbies that get you moving, this is exercise without knowing it.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want at a restaurant, they are in business to make money and it you want the chicken sandwich on a bed of lettuce instead of with buns and fries, they will compromise.
